A Message From the President
The holiday season if fast approaching. Our next meeting is our Lanterns of Hope Event. The CT Chefs Association in partnership with Lincoln Culinary Institute is holding our largest fundraising event for 2017. Our recipient charity is FoodShare. Lincoln Culinary Institute has generously offered their facility and funds needed for this event. Culinary students, CT Chefs Association volunteers, and I will be making gingerbread luminary lanterns to be sold for $5 each. All the money raised is going directly to FoodShare. The event is being held on Monday December 4, 2017 at Lincoln Culinary Institute, 8 Progress Drive, Shelton, CT. The event is from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. FoodShare will be doing a presentation on their continuing work to fight hunger. Following that, the gingerbread lanterns will be lit and there will be a short luminary walk around the area, showing our solidarity in our fight to end hunger. Light refreshments, prepared by the students will also be served. We are asking everyone to pre-order your luminary lanterns so we have an idea of how many to make. There will also be a limited number of lanterns available for sale on the night of the event, so if you decide you need extra, they will be there for purchase, but it is best to pre-order to ensure you have as many lanterns as you want. Please send your orders to jtessier@lincolntech.edu by November 13, 2017. Please make your tax deductible donation checks payable to FoodShare® and send your checks to Lanterns of Hope, C/O Lincoln Culinary Institute, 8 Progress Drive, Shelton, CT 06484. While the lanterns are $5 each, you of course may make your donation checks out for a higher amount! Every little bit helps. We will be excepting checks the night of the event as well. Please come and walk with us as we “light” the path to end hunger this Holiday season. I assure you, the incredible feeling of knowing you made a difference is one you will not soon forget! Please place your orders as soon as possible. Sell to your co-workers, family and friends. Together we can truly make a difference this holiday season. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
